Biomechanics

Patient: There's nothing we can do.

Steve Stone: Think again!

What is Biomechanics?

It is the patterns of how you move, distribute weight and contract muscles. When you distribute weight in a certain way or a certain pattern, your body will build tissue to support weight in the pattern. That will become the stronger tissue and the body will continue to push weight into that tissue--holding you in that pattern.

When addressing an imbalance or injury in order to get long term results, it is essential to evaluate and correct the bio-mechanical imbalances otherwise the body will simply continue to use the same patterns because it builds up that tissue.

Solutions in Biomechanical Patterns

So, are you a patient whose condition does not seem to have a solution? Have you been told "you are just getting older" or everything looks okay on the x-ray or MRI? If your body is not performing optimally there is a reason why and it may because an imbalance in how you are moving, distributing weight and contracting muscle.--your Biomechanics. Your body will build protein to support weight in these patterns. We refer to this tissue as Fascia or Connective tissue. This is the primary tissue that holds us together and supports our weight.

An imbalance in this tissue can be the underlying cause of  your issue. It can limit your range of motion, hold you in a pattern of muscle contraction and weight distribution leading to injury and it can put stress on joints and tissue and cause inflammation  and pain..  Long term success in rehabilitation from an accident, injury or surgery is not possible without addressing biomechaincal and connective tissue patterns.

Again, this is permanent tissue, so it does not change on its own, but with the right combination of acupuncture, Myofascial release and therapeutic exercise... we can correct these imbalances
