Acupuncture
& Chinese Medicine
Modern research has demonstrated acupuncture's effects on the nervous system, endocrine and immune systems, cardiovascular system, and digestive system. By stimulating the body's various systems, acupuncture can help to resolve pain, and improve sleep, digestive function, and sense of well-being. Acupuncture is not taught in medical schools. Most of what is taught in acupuncture school is based on the classical theory of Chinese Medicine. This theory began thousands of years ago in a time and place when physiology was not described the same way we describe it now. In addition, a lot of the language has been poorly translated. In cases where a Chinese word may represent a whole variety of different concepts and definitions and literally be translated as many as 30 or even 50 different ways, we may have it translated into only one work in English.
